Having a good understanding of emergency paediatric first aid is incredibly important for the safety of children and could mean the difference between life and death. The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) qualification has been designed in line with the current Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements and is ideal for those who have gained a Level 2 or 3 childcare qualification and have entered into an early years setting, wishing to be included in the staff-to-child ratios to comply with EYFS requirements. It is also suitable for anyone who cares for infants and children, such as parents, guardians, and grandparents. Successful candidates will be equipped with the skills needed to deal with a range of paediatric first aid situations.

Would you know what to do if a child in your care needed first aid? The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework requires all early years providers in England to have at least one person with a current and full paediatric first aid certificate on the premises and available at all times when children are present. Providers should also consider the number of children, staff, and the layout of the premises to ensure adequate paediatric first aid provision.
The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) has been specifically designed to meet the criteria set by the Department for Education’s EYFS Framework and is ideal for those who have gained a Level 2 or Level 3 childcare qualification and have entered an early years setting, wishing to be included in the staff-to-child ratios to comply with EYFS requirements. It is also suitable for registered childminders and assistants who must hold a current and full paediatric first aid certificate to meet EYFS requirements.
Successful candidates will learn the roles and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider and gain the necessary skills to administer safe and effective treatment for a range of paediatric first aid situations.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework states that early years providers should consider whether paediatric first aiders need to undertake annual refresher training to maintain key skills and stay up to date with changes to paediatric first aid procedures.
The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (Annual Refresher) (RQF) qualification is designed to help qualified paediatric first aiders refresh their knowledge and practice essential skills every year until requalification is required.
Successful candidates will leave with renewed confidence, having refreshed the paediatric first aid skills needed to handle emergency situations.
